Author Interview – James Shipman

Do you plan to publish more books?

Yes, I’m currently writing a civil war novel “Going Home,” based on a true story.

What else do you do to make money, other than write? It is rare today for writers to be full time…

I’m a litigation attorney and mediator.

What other jobs have you had in your life?

I have worked at a boat marina, as an editor for a small newspaper, as an apprentice funeral director and my first job was at Burger King!

If you could study any subject at university what would you pick?

History, history, and if it was available—history.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Scotland or Istanbul, Turkey.

How do you write – lap top, pen, paper, in bed, at a desk?

I write on a laptop at my desk. I often write at work after the day or on the weekends.  It is crazy loud at home often, so my work office is the quiet place.

Where do you get support from? Do you have friends in the industry?

I have a number of FB author friends and I belong to a writing group online called ASMSG.  One of my author friends I know in the real world, Devon Hartford, just had a breakout romance novel that was in the top 100 overall on Amazon for more than a month.
