Author Interview – Todd M Thiede

What do you do to unwind and relax? I like to watch movies and hang with my family.  I would rather be hanging out with them more than anything.  When they are at school, work, or wherever and I am alone I like to play video games to escape the world around me.

What are your current writing projects now? I am currently writing book two of the Max Larkin detective series.  This is one is called “Lies to Die For”.  It follows our two young detectives in Rockton Illinois yet again. 

How do you promote this book? I promoted this book with twitter, facebook, and book blogs.  Marketing is not my forte but I have had great luck with facebook and twitter.  My publicist is working on more book signings and radio interviews as well.

Who designed the cover? I came up with the design of the cover.  My publisher sent me many pictures of the clock on the cover and although I put a lot of time in picking the clock.  They didn’t agree with me and came up with that cover.  Although the overall cover design was my idea they used their expertise in making it look like it does.

What inspires you to write and why? My imagination is what inspires me.  I truly can’t shut my brain and imagination off.  I have a hard time sleeping at night because my brain is always coming up with new ideas for books and other things.

Can you tell us about your main character? Max Larkin is a young detective that has been a detective for 6 years.  He is only 29 but has always been considered a prodigy.  To be only 29 and be a detective for 6 years is very unusual and he just got a female partner that is equally gifted.  she got promoted at a young age as well. 

Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself writing full time in 5 years.  I think I could see one or all of my books becoming a movie.  I have been told by many people that “Time Killer” should be a movie and it actually reads like one.

Can we expect any more books from you in the future? I must say you should expect a few more at the very least.  I truly enjoy putting my mind to work on stories for other people to read.  I get a kick out of reading reviews for my book.  Even the not so good ones.  It gives me an insight for the next book

What contributes to making a writer successful? I think the one thing that makes a writer successful is writing what you like.  If you truly enjoy what you are writing it will always be a success.  Always write for yourself and the accolades will follow.

Will you write others in this same genre? I will write many more books in this genre.  I truly can’t shut my brain off especially when it comes to coming up with ideas for my stories.
